Nature and Exploration: A Poetry Reading with Russel Thorburn and Kathleen Heideman.  Join us Wednesday November 13, 7:00 pm for a free poetry reading in the C. Fred Rydholm Gathering Hall, Marquette Regional History Center.  Listen to Russell Thorburn, the poet laureate of the Upper Peninsula, read nature and exploration poems. As an artist-in-residence for the Mojave National Preserve in California, with his son Gabriel, a photographer and Warner Bros. animation editor, he wrote over 80 poems. Thorburn's current book of poetry is Misfit Hearts, which examines the John Huston film, The Misfits, through the location stills of Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable and Montgomery Clift. Kathleen Heideman will also do a reading. Heideman is a writer and artist based in Marquette, a past fellow of the National Science Foundation's Antarctic Artists & Writers Program. Heideman has completed several artist residencies with the National Park Service, including residencies at the Apostle Islands, Isle Royale and the Badlands.
