Earlier this week, I began my artist residency at the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge in central Wisconsin. The refuge is perhaps best known for being a migration/breeding/nesting location for the endangered Whooping Crane. A gaggle of other migratory waterfowl also take refuge here, not to mention endangered butterflies and even timber wolves. My studio space is located in the Ellen Allan Learning Center, overlooking ponds and marshes (below).
