Gleaning

I hope to create small screened-in gazebo at this site, so I wanted to document it with a watercolor study. The term “gleaning” is used in sustainable agriculture to describe scavenging for surplus food in fields that have already been harvested. In this case, I am gleaning short pieces of timber that were wasted during logging. My dear friend Allyn recently called me a gleaner; he was called a “gleaner” by another friend. He defines “gleaner” as a person who is an intellectual or spiritual omnivore, rather than an expert or devotee of a single tradition. Bring on the gleaning!
