“On a clear day you can see forever” as the song goes (the obscure title song of an even more obscure musical about a woman with ESP, that is). On a clear day you can see forever, and on a clear-but-hazy day in the Badlands you can see for maybe twenty miles, from the top of Cedar Pass. Somewhere in the foreground distance, coyotes were howling and barking and singing. Bliss.
