The day started out with ground fog but cleared to brilliant blue with sunshine, and everything melted for a while. I watched a Japanese couple skid around on a hiking trail, trying to keep each other from falling. Where there is water, there is a thick layer of gumbo-mud. Even spots that appear to be dry (even cracked and dessicated) smear and slide underfoot.
