A news story about the 50th year of service of the Ranger III, which I’ll be taking to Isle Royale:
HOUGHTON — Ranger III has been powering her way across Lake Superior since 1958 and with more than 4,400 trips underneath her belt. The National Park Service vessel is celebrating its 50th birthday. The Ranger III is a fixture in the Keweenaw, taking supplies and people to Isle Royale. Its mission is the same now as it was then: to service the logistical needs of the Isle Royale National Park.
