Lenticular Clouds

Photograph of Lenticular Clouds, taken by pilot Steve Dols (commanding officer of my New Zealand-to-Antarctica flight). This view of low sun (high noon!) was taken in August of 2004 near Cape Adaire, northbound, on a C17 flight. “Best photograph I’ve ever taken” Steve told me, “it could have won a Pulitzer Prize or something but you decide” — and he handed me his USB jump drive. I plugged it into my laptop right there, standing on the flight deck, and immediately we all agreed that it was a fantastic image! Remember to send compliments and/or prize notifications directly to the photographer, Major Steve Dols – not me. ; )
